The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is located on the Arabian Peninsula directly on the Persian Gulf and thus belongs to Asia. The neighboring countries on the mainland are Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman. The UAE consists of 7 emirates, the largest of which, Abu Dhabi, is also the capital of the UAE.
With a population of nearly 10 million, the UAE has grown by leaps and bounds since it was founded in 1971. At that time there were just over 200,000 residents.
With almost 50 degrees of heat in summer and a minimum of around 20 degrees in winter, the daytime temperatures are also very far apart. Especially in winter (November to March), it can get quite cool at night with 6-12 degrees.
The capital of the United Arab Emirates is literally translated as “Father of the Gazelle” – according to the legend, the city was founded after a young antelope led the nomadic people to a water source.
